ALTERNATIVE - IOM Lines & Rigging Plan
'Alternative' is our latest IOM design with influence and experience taken from our previous 'SKA' lines plan of 2010 and our successful BritPOP and POP designs. With a narrower waterline beam, 'Alternative' features a softer tapering chine line with less wetted surface area for lighter conditions, whilst retaining generous stability for hard upwind performance. Reserve volume has been retained through moderately flared topsides and our higher peaked 'splitting' foredeck used to good effect on our 'POP' IOM and 'Grunge' Marblehead designs.
We suggest a stiff lightweight glass fibre moulding be taken from a 'male' plug incorporating a rounded deck edge and foredeck as one unit. Utilisation of corrector weights placed low in the hull and foil and bulb sections used by us will offer best performance at the highest levels of competition. Alternatively a well planked balsa hull skinned with lightweight glass fibre with a moulded deck will still give good performance with a minimal careful build. This lines plan is supplied with both body and plan section drawings, along with comprehensive dimensional drawings and information in 12 A4 format pages suitable for experienced home, club or commercial build. All body sections are drawn in 1:1 scale and require any planking finish material thickness to be deducted. Also included within this package is our 3 page Rigging guide featuring all lengths and positional dimensions for your masts and booms.
