BRAD GIBSON
As an 8 time IRSA World and multiple national radio sailing champion, it's fair to say sailing has always been the sport in Brad's life from early childhood.
Brad's sailing timeline dates back to the early 1980's in Australia where he began in the Flying Ant dinghy class on Botany Bay in Sydney's south. Over the next decade and a half he campaigned a number of boats to success in classes including Cherubs, 14 and 18 foot skiffs.
Not only a keen sailor, Brad has enjoyed the opportunity to learn what makes a success on the water from the early years of building boats with grandfather Len Riley (Riley Marine fittings) coupled with rigging and tuning sails and spars to suit them with sailmaker father Kerry (Sailflite Sails), through to working closely with a number of prominent sailors, boatbuilders, designers, sailmakers and riggers during time spent racing and campaigning 18 skiffs in Sydney through the 90's.
Since the age of 12, Brad has also been actively involved in radio controlled yachts. Racing in Sydney's south, his first new yacht was an East Coast 12 metre during the mid 80's to race in what at the time was the largest fleet sailed locally. In late 1997 after much time taken up with dinghy and skiff sailing commitments, he returned to radio sailing, borrowed a mould and built his first International One Metre. Not long after launching this boat, Brad knew with his racing background and knowledge he could design and build his own boats and sails to be competitive with anything on the market.
With now 20 years of supplying radio sailing products and racing in competitions local to international, Brad still enjoys all levels of competition in the sport of sailing being based with Victoria on the Wirral peninsula in the North West of the UK.

VICTORIA GIBSON
Born on the Wirral, Victoria has grown up within the model yachting scene in the UK.
Summer holidays were always spent from an early age travelling with the family across the country to vane sailing championships. Her first yacht was a Stollery Choppa, a free sailing design that has seen dozens of kids introduced to our sport over many years. Once old enough, Victoria then crewed vane models with her father Bernie McNulty, until at the age 16 she decided to take up radio sailing. An old Bubbles 2 IOM design was built up and was raced at club level.
In 2005 with her experience growing, Victoria set out to build a more competitive boat so began building a Widget under the guidance of David Creed and Martin Roberts. This was the very same boat that convinced Brad to build to the same design for Marseille after borrowing it for 2nd place the 2006 Croatian Nationals. Victoria was at the time the owner and assisted in the build of the orange Britpop loaned to Peter Stollery to win the 2011 World Championships at West Kirby.
As a Mechanical Engineering graduate and daughter of a UK manufacturer of bespoke Model Yacht fittings, Victoria brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to BG Sails and Design. Along with assisting in sail manufacture, she is also responsible for our website design, ordering and sales through our online store.
