INDIE - Marblehead Lines Plan
‘Indie’ is our current International Marblehead Class lines plan following on from the success of our production ‘Grunge’ design at all levels of competition since 2012. We believe ‘Indie’ incorporates the most important factors in successful modern M design, sharing many similarities to ‘Grunge’. Recent home builds are performing strongly around the world including a strong win for Scott Condie in the 2018 Australian Championships.
Our ‘Indie’ design features a subtle, softer bilge line without the sharpness of a hard chine. Waterline beam is in line with modern M designs in that, whilst on the narrow side, offers adequate hull form stability when used with a short fin option at depth restricted ponds in all conditions. ‘Indie’ features a balanced hull form that offers a smooth transition in speed through changing angle of heel whilst retaining a soft helm feel and easy maneuverability. The ability to hold her rigs downwind is enhanced through incorporating a higher peaked nose area transition over the foredeck that has worked to good effect on “Grunge’.
This lines plan is supplied with body and plan section drawings, along with comprehensive dimensional drawings and information in 11 A4 format pages suitable for experienced home, club or restricted commercial build. Body sections are drawn in full 1:1 scale and require any planking or glass fibre thickness to be deducted. We suggest a lightweight carbon fibre/kevlar moulding taken over a male shaped plug, incorporating a rounded gunwale edge and foredeck will offer best performance.
Also included within this package are basic rigging notes, tips, fin depth options related to ballast weights and suited mainsail luff dimensions for each rig along with sail plan ratios. Displacement 4.6 - 4.8kg
